Lead Systems Architect
Oddcast develops cutting edge media rich Internet applications & development tools, and maintains a massive data center to serve application solutions to over 5,000 customers worldwide.
The Lead Systems Architect will assume a leading management role within the company and R&D team. This includes managing the infrastructure of world class web applications that serve millions while managing multiple data centers and our main office. This person will be the lead authority in the company regarding all systems issues, will understand, advise and implement systems aspects of R&D product development and represent the needs of the systems team and plan for growth
Requirements:
We are looking for an experienced, exceptional hands-on individual to come on board & lead our Systems Team.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working with internet-based client-server applications: A minimum of 5 years working with a company which delivers applications over the web in a senior position.
- Able to interact comfortably with senior management, business units and application development teams and provide a high level of confidence in the reliability of systems and solutions.
- System monitoring: (NAGIOS a plus) Develop and manage system monitoring infrastructure and assume responsibility for issue escalation based on maintaining 100% application uptime and the parameters of defined service level agreements.
- Networking: Experience with hardware load balancing (Cisco a plus), LAN infrastructure (switches, cabling), firewalls (IOS), VPNS and intrusion detection systems.
- System Administration: Strong Linux experience managing Apache, MySQL, Samba and NFS servers is a requirement (provisioning, maintenance and performance tuning). Windows Server and MSSQL a plus.
- High Availability/Scalability: Good knowledge of the different methods of providing redundancy on many levels to ensure that application integrity is not compromised including Linux system clustering, MySQL replication, component redundancy and recovery from failure. Develop and maintain horizontal and vertical scalability for infrastructure components.
- Vendor Relations: Work with vendors for all datacenter infrastructure components and manage and maintain the physical inventory.
- Content Delivery Networks: Good understanding of the function and use of a CDN in web-based applications and the ability to maintain all points of integration.
- Client Relations: Act as a point of contact for client technical staff during the implementation phase and for any troubleshooting and debugging of application issues that are related to core system and infrastructure. Act as technical lead for integration with third-party systems when systems and infrastructure are involved.
- Programming: Experience with PHP a plus. Perl and bash experience required.
- API: Developing specifications for and implementing APIs
